Why the same product has different prices on each Amazon
Same product, same brand, same model… and yet a different price in France, Germany or Spain. Here are the main reasons.
VAT isn't the same everywhere
Consumer prices include VAT, and the standard rate varies by country: 19% in Germany, 20% in France, 21% in Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium, 22% in Italy. For an order delivered to you, the VAT applied may also depend on your delivery country: the final price is shown at checkout.
Each country has its own competition
Amazon and sellers adjust their prices to the shops and websites of each country. A product with strong competition in Germany may be cheaper there than in France, and vice versa.
Stock and sellers change
The seller offering the best price isn't necessarily the same from one country to another. Large stock or a local clearance also brings prices down.
Promotions are local
Many promotions apply to one country only, with their own dates. A product on sale on Amazon.it may be at full price on Amazon.de the same day.
Prices change often
Amazon prices change regularly, sometimes several times a day. The right habit: compare just before you buy, and look at the total price including delivery.
